Day 19: 30 days wild

So Today we had to make a good effort to get some wild about us. The morning was started with another baby group so indoors again. But in the afternoon took a scenic walk to the doctors to see what we could spot today.

Another snail tucked on a leaf on a bush. I've never noticed snails in such places before and this week
I've seen two.

A sparrow singing in the trees. I've realised we don't actually see many of these anymore. As a child this was always the most common spotted bird. What's happened to them I wonder.

A blackbird come to say a cheeky hello.

And starlings who are the usual visitors to our home area, and believed to be nesting in our loft.

On our walk found a giant leaf that I felt compelled to collect.

Had a go at leaf rubbing

And compared the size of leaf to baby's hand and foot.

A successful and enjoyable wild day.

Day 18: 30 days wild

Again another disappointing day on the wild side today as had to do the dreaded food shopping. So just got to enjoy the local birds from our window and balcony.

So a pledge to up my game for the rest of the month and make up some lost time.

Day 17: 30 days wild

We Didn't get chance to do much today as mummy had to go into work for a catch up. We did get to spend 10 minutes sitting outside in the sunshine, appreciating the warmth on our faces.

I also got to enjoy watching some crows fight over some food. One crow had a tasty morsel and two others wanted it, so was treated to some aerial acrobatics as they tried to steal it. This made sitting in traffic much more enjoyable.

Following my met petting went to baby sensory group, and spotted on route starlings and sparrows. Unfortunately wasn't able to get any pictures.

Day 16: 30 days wild

Today We had quite day as we go swimming in Tuesday's. So when I got home I repositioned the bird feeder on my window and throw some seed down to the starlings to try and encourage them. But currently still no birds have used the feeder.

Any suggestions?

Day 15: 30 days wild

Today I was determined to get out and about, even if just for a short while. So I went to the local lakes for a brief stroll with baby in pushchair. I always love going here as the main lake is just beautiful and in the summer swimmers, wind sailers and other water sports can be spotted.

As I walked round I realised how much I had never really stopped to take in all the little wildlife.
First I spotted a snail snugly tucked under a leaf.

Then I came across loads of beautiful blue damselflies.

I have walked round this lake hundreds of times and never noticed damselflies, and yet there were hundreds of them.

There was also the usual residents, the geese.

They were hoping I had food, but today I did not.

Also spotted but didn't manage to get pictures of more hens, tits, sparrows and gulls.

And just caught some ducks hiding away.

One thing this has taught me is to open my eyes to nature more and not just the obvious residents, as you miss out on the little things.

Days 12, 13 and 14: 30 days wild

So apparently I have lost three days where I have been extremely unwell. These days have gone in a bit of a blur.

I have managed to realise my seedlings planted on day one seem to be growing nicely.

During this time there was also one evening we had a fantastic thunderstom that I lay listening to. Unfortunately I'm not sure which day this was.

So I have a few days to catch up on. Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this? Maybe I need to carry into July for a few days.

Day 15 today already, not sure what the weather has in store today, but hopefully can get out somewhere today.

Day 11: 30 days wild

Today Was feeling a little under the weather so had a day at home and painted our bird box. Some nice bright colours for bubba to appreciate, but not sure how the birds will feel about it.

This will also serve as decoration until we get moved and gain a garden, but this will be a great way to start a garden off.
